What is Operation Siam?
Operation Siam is a DCHO-coordinated Dega unity and humanitarian initiative being launched for Dega refugees and asylum-seekers in Thailand. “Montagnard” is retained only when a cited source or historical record uses that term.
Who are the Dega people?
The Dega are one Indigenous people whose nation comprises 32 tribes and languages, according to Dega Central Highlands Organization. Tribal identity and Dega unity belong together; the French colonial label “Montagnard” should not displace the people’s own name.
Can anyone guarantee refugee status or resettlement for payment?
No contribution, unofficial or personal payment, intermediary, connection, or promise can buy, guarantee, fast-track, or improperly influence an official protection, immigration, detention, visa, or resettlement decision.
Living heritage: gongs, weaving, jars, and community memory
Cultural forms from the Central Highlands carry social, spiritual, historical, and family meaning. They should be presented as living heritage—not as anonymous decoration.
How can I verify and contact Operation Siam?
Use a published organizational route, verify who is responding, and share only the minimum information needed for routing.
